Question:
Which book genre do you avoid at all costs and why?

Answer:
I stay away from historical fiction as much as possible because I find it extremely tiresome and boring. Sometimes I'll make an exception, but usually I just don't really like it. History in general doesn't appeal to me because even though history repeats itself, as my father always says, it's always the same facts over and over again. In fiction, you have the same concept but different details.

  1. I like really history, but I'm not a big fan of historical fiction. Still, I do enjoy most genres.

  8. I tend not to read much historical fiction either. The only historical fiction book I have ever loved was Memoirs of a Geisha.

  9. I have enjoyed historical fiction on occasion. Like most genres, I guess it depends on the author.

    Have a great weekend.

Stop by my HOP if you have a chance.

  10. I haven't read much historical fiction yet, because of some tropes there, particularely the Rape Is Love/Abduction Is Love trope. Or the way that to stay true to the worldview from back then, it's practically impossible to create protagonists with equal standing. *le sigh*

  11. I don't mind historical fiction. I'm actually a huge history buff, but when it comes to reading I like my history books with a lot of romance =) If its just spitting out facts then I get bored pretty easily.

  18. Before I got into reading YA paranormal books the genre that I always read was Historical Romance. But then again my favorite classes in school were always history. But I know how you feel, most of my friends hate history as well.
