Waiting on Wednesday—7

Haven Terra is a brainy, shy high school outcast. But everything begins to change when she turns sixteen. Along with her best friend Dante and their quiet and brilliant classmate Lance, she is awarded a prestigious internship in the big city— Chicago—and is sent to live and work at a swanky and stylish hotel under the watchful eyes of a group of gorgeous and shockingly young-looking strangers: powerful and alluring hotel owner Aurelia Brown; her second-in-command, the dashing Lucian Grove; and their stunning but aloof staff of glamazons called The Outfit.

As Haven begins falling for Lucian, she discovers that these beautiful people are not quite what they seem. With the help of a mysterious book, she uncovers a network of secret passageways from the hotel’s jazz-age past that leads her to the heart of the evil agenda of Aurelia and company: they’re in the business of buying souls. Will they succeed in wooing Haven to join them in their recruitment efforts, or will she be able to thwart this devilish set’s plans to take the souls of her classmates on prom night at the hotel?

Illuminate is an exciting saga of a teen’s first taste of independence, her experience in the lap of luxury, and her discovery she may possess strength greater than she ever knew.

This is probably a huge violation in the Waiting on Wednesday protocol, but I already defied the Teaser Tuesday rules, so why not do the same with Waiting on Wednesday? I just started testing out this new thing on my blog, where I'll put the summaries in that fancy box up there, so I don't know if it works, because previewing my blog, everything looks really messed up, so if it is, please tell me what I did wrong. If I didn't, then thank goodness. :)

EDIT: I changed the box because everything was getting messed up. Sow now I'm stuck with this until I figure something new out.

I've heard such great things about this book, and I can't wait until I get my own hands on it, because as you can tell from the summary, it looks great! I hope to be able to read it as soon as possible, and I hope to enjoy it a lot, or, at lease as much as I expect to because of the gorgeous cover!

Waiting on Wednesday—6

Goddess Interrupted (Goddess Test, #2)
SUMMARY
Kate Winters has won immortality.

But if she wants a life in the Underworld with Henry, she’ll have to fight for it.

Becoming immortal wasn’t supposed to be the easy part. Though Kate is about to be crowned Queen of the Underworld, she’s as isolated as ever. And despite her growing love for Henry, ruler of the Underworld, he’s becoming ever more distant and secretive. Then, in the midst of Kate’s coronation, Henry is abducted by the only being powerful enough to kill him: the King of the Titans.

As the other gods prepare for a war that could end them all, it is up to Kate to save Henry from the depths of Tartarus. But in order to navigate the endless caverns of the Underworld, Kate must enlist the help of the one person who is the greatest threat to her future.

Henry’s first wife, Persephone.

You do not know how much I want this book. I thought The Goddess Test was great and it's only a few weeks away. I'll probably have to fight to get it sent over to my library somehow or buy it, but I just love the summary and I haven't seen the problem yet for the books and I just want to see what the whole point of this trilogy was and I hope that it's revealed in this book, although I think that the King of the Titans has something to do with it.

Waiting on Wednesday: Tiger's Destiny by Colleen Houck

With three of the goddess Durga's quests behind them, only one prophecy now stands in the way of Kelsey, Ren, and Kishan breaking the tiger's curse. But the trio's greatest challenge awaits them: A life-endangering pursuit in search of Durga's final gift, the Rope of Fire, on the Adaman Islands in the Bay of Bengal. It's a race against time--and the evil sorcerer Lokesh--in this eagerly anticipated fourth volume of the bestselling Tiger's Curse series, which pits good against evil, tests the bonds of love and loyalty, and finally reveals the tigers' true destiny once and for all. A smart phone tag code on the back cover links readers to the series website.

I really want to read this book. Like, really want to read it. I'm currently still on Tiger's Quest, and I can't wait to read to read Tiger's Voyage, and I even more want to read Tiger's Destiny. I seriously want to ask Colleen for an ARC of this book, but I don't know if she'd accept. But I'm seriously going to try to get that book ASAP. The first two books are full of suspense and they keep you guessing and you want to keep reading because you really need to finish the book to see the solution and you're reeling with questions anyway and you really need to read the next book. I hate that about coming into a series when all the books aren't out yet, especially if one has a cliffhanger. But they're totally fun to read and it just means that you have a new favorite series that you can obsess over.

Waiting on Wednesday: The Immortal Rules by Julie Kagawa

SUMMARY
You will kill. The only question is when.

In the dark days since the insidious Red Lung virus decimated the human population, vampires have risen to rule the crumbling cities and suburbs. Uncontested Princes hold sway over diminished ranks of humans: their "pets." In exchange for their labor, loyalty and of course, their blood, these pets are registered, given food and shelter, permitted to survive.

Unregistered humans cling to fringes, scavenging for survival. Allison Sekemoto and her fellow Unregistereds are hunted, not only by vampires, but by rabids, the unholy result of Red Lung-infected vampires feeding on unwary humans. One night, Allie is attacked by a pack of rabids, saved by an unlikely hero...and turned vampire.

Uncomfortable in her undead skin, Allie falls in with a ragtag crew of humans seeking a cure, or cures: for Rabidism and for Vampirism. She's passing for human...for now. But the hunger is growing and will not be denied. Not for friendship—not even for love.

I really loved Julie Kagawa's Iron Fey series, and I can't wait to see what she's going to do in the post-apocalyptic novel. This blog is extremely new, so if I tried to request an ARC for this, I'd probably get turned down unless I have a lot of followers and if I had been blogging for a really long time. But until then, I'm just going to hope and raid my library every other day. :)

Who else can't wait for this book?
