What is your biggest pet peeve when it comes to books? Maybe you don't like love triangles or thin plots? Tell us about it!

I absolutely hate it whenever an author writes said over and over again. There are so many other ways to say said, so it really ticks me off whenever that happens. Maybe it's just all those writing lessons on using oher ways to express said, but I seriously hate that. I also hate it when one second they're talking about one thing and then the next they're miles away. This doesn't happen often, but it drives me crazy when it does.

  3. Oh, good answer! That does really annoy me when it becomes noticeable.

    New follower!

  4. I totally agree. I don't want to be able to notice how many times an author uses a certain word while reading. Said can be very popular too, so its even more noticeable.

Welcome to Follow Friday! New follower here!

  5. Hopping through. I have little pet peeve words. Like using "took place" instead of "occurred." I don't know why it bothers me so much.
    New follower! Welcome to FF.

  6. PS...congrats for already having CAPTCHA codes turned off despite being a new blogger.

  7. Hi! Happy follow Friday. I'm a new follower.

  8. I like your pet peeve, because these days I'm always seeing SO many author posts about how you should never use anything BUT said, and it makes me feel paranoid whenever I do so in my own writing ;)

New follower - it's exciting to be in your first ten :D

  11. Good answer! A lack of variety is definitely annoying. New follower :)

  12. Welcome to Follow Friday!

Oh I don't think I've seen a lot of "said", although it could be that my brain has been immune to the over use of it=/ Haha I remember when I would have to write a story for homework, I would always try to refrain myself from using "said" all the time!

    New follower:)

  13. Yes, it's true. When author repeats the same thing again and again, it can be boring!

  14. *sigh* Writing lessons? My editor had said that using said is universal, and that spicing it up with words other than said is both annoying and unnecessary. That's actually what most editors have said about said.

  15. Great answer it can get quite annoying.

  16. hello i'm a new follower and have a great weekend!!

  17. Great pet peeve, happy Friday!

  18. I completely agree. The English language is so diverse that it's important to make sure you don't repeat the same word over and over again. Thesauruses exist for a reason!

  19. Welcome to the blog hop. New follower here and can't wait to see more from you.

  20. New follower here :0)

I don't think I've read a book that has used that too many times, but it would annoy me if it did. An author should have a great vocabulary and a way with words. Great answer.

    Here's my FF

  21. Aww hey! New blogger! Can't wait for your posts.

New follower and I'd love a follow back if you have the time.

Reading is my cup of tea

  22. You know, I've never thought about it, but reading said over and over again really is annoying. Writers seem to have decent grasp of the English language, it's not that hard to find a thesaurus. :)

Check out my post if you have the time! And I'm a new follower!

  24. New follower! I totally agree with what you're saying, in fact, it goes along with a peeve I have that I forgot to blog about, I hate when the dialogue doesn't sound like what people really talk like. You can check out what I did say in my blog here:

  25. I totally agree with over decribing things you only ned to do it once I'm pretty sure we canremember something with only one description, new follower, here's mine
